Lesson 4 of 4 · about 5 min
Grow with AI: your 30-day plan
When you finish, you can follow a four-week plan and talk about your AI skills honestly.
Stuck? Ask the AI tutorSkills that gain value
As scheduling tools, reminders and note helpers improve, some routine tasks will shrink. Skills that grow include patient communication, treatment-plan conversations, insurance know-how, leadership, training new staff and keeping systems running smoothly.
A patient who is nervous about a procedure still needs a person. Strengthen the skills that build trust, and use AI to free time for them.
Weeks 1 and 2: safe basics
Week 1: Learn your office policy. Practice with placeholders only. Try two templates, such as a recall message and a huddle agenda. Keep a log of prompts and edits.
Week 2: Practice checking. Read each output for tone, accuracy and fit with your protocols. Ask the tool, “What might be wrong or missing here?” Then check with your office manual or the dentist.
Weeks 3 and 4: build a habit
Week 3: Build one reusable prompt for a task you repeat, such as review replies. Save it with a note on what to check.
Week 4: Share what you learned at a team meeting, including the privacy rules. Ask the owner for feedback and about one more approved use. Note what you will not use AI for.
Describing your skills honestly
A resume line could be: “Use approved AI tools to draft patient message templates and training checklists, with dentist review of clinical content.” Be truthful about your level. Do not claim to run AI projects if you have only practiced.
In an interview, mention privacy first. A dental practice owner worries about patient trust and compliance. Show that you do too.
Talking with your office manager or dentist
Propose something small: “Can I try an approved tool to draft recall messages? I will use placeholders and show you the results.” Offer to report back after a month.
If the answer is not yet, ask what would help. Maybe the owner wants a written policy or a tool review. Your calm, careful approach will be remembered.
Practice now
- Write a four-week plan with one action and a date for each week.
- Write a resume line that is true today and ask a coworker if it reads honestly.
Use any AI assistant you have. Do not paste private, client or patient information into it.
Check yourself
1. Which skill gains value as routine tasks are automated?
2. What belongs in week 1?
3. How should you pitch AI to the owner?
Ask the AI tutor
Ask anything about this lesson, in any language. The tutor is an AI: it can be wrong, and it never needs your personal details.
