Grow with AI: your 30-day plan
When you finish, you can follow a four-week practice plan and describe your AI skills honestly.
Stuck? Ask the AI tutorSkills that gain value
As routine tickets become automated, these skills grow in value: root-cause analysis, scripting and automation, security basics, networking, cloud administration, documentation, and clear user communication. People who can explain a problem calmly to a nervous user are rarer than people who can search for an answer.
Certificates and hands-on practice both help, but the best proof is a record of problems you solved and systems you improved. Build a small home lab, if you can, so you can practice safely.
Start with drafts and safe habits
Week one: use an approved AI tool for low-risk writing tasks. Draft ticket updates, summaries and a knowledge article. Keep a log of prompts that worked. Practice removing private details before every paste until it is automatic.
Week two: use it to plan troubleshooting and explain errors. For each suggestion, write the check you ran and the result. Review one script a day, even a short one, by asking for an explanation and then testing it in a safe place.
Test, measure and share results
Week three: pick a repeated problem, such as the same printer or password issue, and find its root cause. Ask the assistant to help you brainstorm fixes, then write a prevention step and a short user guide. Measure whether tickets of that type drop.
Week four: share your work. Present one improvement to your team, with the prompts, checks and mistakes included. Ask your manager whether you can pilot an AI-assisted process on one small area. Choose one technical skill, such as scripting or networking, to study next.
Resume and conversations
On a resume, be specific: “Used AI assistants to draft knowledge articles and script reviews, testing all changes in a lab before deployment.” Avoid claiming you automated what you did not. Prepare a true story about an assistant suggestion you rejected and why.
When you talk to your manager, bring a small proposal with a safety plan and a way to measure results. When you talk to users, be open that you use tools to help you, and that you check the answers. Honesty builds the trust your job runs on.
Practice now
- Choose one repeated ticket type and draft a prevention plan and a short user guide for it using an AI tool, then edit both by hand.
- Write two honest resume bullets about AI use in support and one story about a suggestion you rejected.
Use any AI assistant you have. Do not paste private, client or patient information into it.

Ask the AI tutor
Ask anything about this lesson, in any language. The tutor is an AI: it can be wrong, and it never needs your personal details.
