Lesson 4 of 5 · about 5 min
Interview practice and employer research
When you finish, you can rehearse answers with AI and learn about an employer without guessing.
Stuck? Ask the AI tutorPractice out loud
AI can play the interviewer. Ask it to ask one question at a time, wait for your answer, and give feedback. Speak your answers aloud or type them fully. Practice with questions like "Tell me about yourself," "Why this job?" and "Tell me about a time you made a mistake."
Ask for feedback on three things: clarity, evidence and length. Keep the good parts and fix one thing per round.
Use real stories
Stories beat slogans. Use situation, action and result. Weak: "I am a hard worker." Strong: "When two colleagues were sick, I reorganized the schedule so every customer was served, and we finished on time."
Ask AI to shape your real story into a short answer. Check it still says what really happened. Do not memorize word for word. Remember the three beats.
Research the employer
Read the company's own pages, news from reliable sources and the job post. Then ask AI to help you organize notes: what they do, who their customers are, and smart questions to ask. If you let AI search for you, double check any facts it gives.
Good interview questions show curiosity: "What would a successful first three months look like?" "How does the team work together?" Avoid asking things you could read on the first page of their site.
A worked example
Mei, a retail worker in Taipei, prepares for a customer support interview. She pastes her notes about the company into an AI tool and practices six questions. The AI notices she never mentions a result, so she adds how complaints dropped after her suggestion.
On the day, she stays calm because she has practiced. She asks two good questions. She treats AI as a practice partner, not a script.
Practice now
- Run a five-question mock interview with an AI tool. Save the feedback and pick one thing to fix.
- Pick an employer, read their website, and write three questions to ask them. Check any AI-supplied fact against their own pages.
Use any AI assistant you have. Do not paste private, client or patient information into it.
Check yourself
1. What is a good way to use AI in interview practice?
2. Which answer is stronger?
3. Why double-check facts about an employer?
Ask the AI tutor
Ask anything about this lesson, in any language. The tutor is an AI: it can be wrong, and it never needs your personal details.
