Editing photos with AI
When you finish, you can improve photos while keeping them honest.
Stuck? Ask the AI tutorWhat editing tools can do
Many photo apps and AI tools can brighten dark pictures, remove a stranger from the background, blur or replace a messy backdrop, sharpen blurry faces, and even extend the edges of an image. Features vary by app and plan, so look at your tool's current help pages.
These tools save hours of work. They also make it easy to change the truth of a photo, so you need a simple rule.
Edits that are fine, edits that mislead
Fixing exposure, cropping, color correction and removing dust are normal editing. Removing a trash can from a tourist photo is usually harmless. But changing what happened, such as adding people who were not there or removing a damaged part of a product you are selling, can mislead.
A good test: would a viewer feel tricked if they knew exactly what you changed? If yes, do not do it, or label it clearly.
Prompt for the edit
Weak: "Make this better." Strong: "Brighten the room slightly, keep colors natural, and remove the power cable in the corner. Do not change faces or the furniture." Naming what must stay the same protects the truth.
Keep your original file. Save edits as new copies so you can always go back.
A worked example
Ahmed rents out a flat in Istanbul. His photos look dim. He uses an AI tool to brighten and straighten them and removes a stray bag from the floor. He does not change the size of the rooms, add a view, or hide a stain on the wall.
Guests arrive and the flat looks just like the photos. Good reviews follow. Honest editing helps your reputation.
Practice now
- Take a dim photo of your own. Ask an AI photo tool to improve the light without changing any people or objects, and compare before and after.
- Write down your own three-line rule for what edits you will and will not make.
Use any AI assistant you have. Do not paste private, client or patient information into it.
Check yourself
1. Which edit is normally fine?
2. What is a good test for an edit?
3. Why keep your original photo?
