Skills that gain value

Craft, consultation skill and personal brand grow in value as admin gets easier. Being able to listen, advise honestly and deliver consistent results keeps clients. So does a clear online presence: real photos, honest reviews, easy booking. Learning to run your business numbers, such as how long services take and what each chair-hour earns, helps you price fairly.

Learn to use tools without losing your voice. Clients follow people, not templates. If your messages sound like everyone else's, you lose your edge.

Weeks 1 and 2

Week 1: use AI for one message a day for ten minutes. Start with booking replies and rebooking texts. Save the ones you like on your phone. Week 2: add your style to your prompts: how you talk, your services, your rules. Try captions, with your real photos. Keep a list called AI got wrong.

Track time saved. Even thirty minutes a week matters if it lets you rest or add a client.

Weeks 3 and 4

Week 3: build a routine. For example, Sunday evening: plan the week's posts, write reminders for clients due for rebooking, update the quiet-day offer. Week 4: refine your price menu and service descriptions, ask a few clients what they think, and choose the two AI uses that help you most.

If you rent a chair or own a salon, share the rule card with colleagues so you all handle client data and claims the same way.

Talking about it honestly

On a profile or resume, you might write: "Uses AI tools to draft client messages and plan content, with all client care and advice based on professional training." Keep it simple and true. Don't claim AI created your artistry.

With clients, you can say: "I use some tools to keep my messages quick, so more of my time goes into your hair." With colleagues, share what works and what failed. In a small salon, a shared habit lifts everyone.

Practice now

  1. Plan week 1: one message a day, ten minutes.
  2. Start the list AI got wrong.
  3. Write a short honest line for your booking page about how you use tools.

Use any AI assistant you have. Do not paste private, client or patient information into it.

Check yourself

1. What is a good first AI habit?

2. Why share a rule card in a salon?

3. Which line is honest?
