Lesson 4 of 4 · about 5 min
Grow with AI: your 30-day plan
When you finish, you can follow a four-week plan and describe your AI and automation skills honestly.
Stuck? Ask the AI tutorSkills that gain value
As machines take over heavy and repeated tasks, value moves to people who can work with systems: scanning and WMS skills, reading dashboards, spotting exceptions, keeping equipment running, and training others. Data habits matter, such as accurate counts and clean records, because automated systems depend on them.
Communication gets more valuable too. A person who can explain a problem clearly to a supplier, a planner and a supervisor can move into lead, planner or controller roles.
Weeks 1 and 2
Week 1: use AI for one writing task daily, such as your end-of-shift notes. Ten minutes. Save good prompts on your phone. Week 2: learn one spreadsheet skill with AI as your tutor, like a lookup formula or a filter, always testing on a copy. Add your site's details to your prompts.
Keep a short log of time and fixes. Add a list called AI got wrong. A wrong formula or a made-up rule is a useful lesson.
Weeks 3 and 4
Week 3: learn about the systems at your site. Ask a supervisor what scanners, WMS or automation you use, and ask AI to explain basic terms in plain words. Draft a one-page procedure for something you know well, and walk it through with a lead. Week 4: share with your team. Offer your prompts, and agree on the rule card.
At the end of the month, tell your supervisor what you tried and what saved time. Ask about training on new systems. Showing curiosity and care puts you in a good position when new roles open.
Talking about it honestly
On a resume: "Uses AI assistants to draft shift reports, procedures and supplier emails, with all counts and codes verified in the warehouse system. Learning WMS and spreadsheet skills." That is true and clear.
With coworkers, be open. Share what works, admit what fails, and say that AI is not a reason to skip checks. If you worry about automation, say so to your supervisor and ask what training is available. Asking early is better than waiting.
Practice now
- Plan week 1: one writing task a day.
- Pick one spreadsheet skill to learn this month.
- Draft a resume line and one sentence for your supervisor.
Use any AI assistant you have. Do not paste private, client or patient information into it.

Ask the AI tutor
