Lesson 1 of 5 · about 5 min
Marketing posts in your own voice
When you finish, you can draft a week of honest posts in an hour.
Stuck? Ask the AI tutorStart with who and why
A post works when it speaks to a real person about something they care about. Before asking AI, answer three questions: who is this for, what do I want them to do, and what is true and interesting this week?
Give those answers to the AI. Weak prompt: "Write a post for my bakery." Strong prompt: "Write a friendly post for my family bakery in Lagos announcing fresh coconut bread on Saturday morning. Invite people to order by Friday. Keep it under fifty words."
Teach it your voice
Paste two or three older posts you liked and say: "Match this style." Describe your voice in plain words: warm, short, a little funny. Ask for several versions and pick the best, then edit.
Avoid exaggerated claims like "the best in the city" unless you can prove them. Keep offers and dates exactly right. A wrong date can cost you customers.
Check before posting
Read every post aloud. Check names, dates, prices and promises. Make sure photos belong to you or you have permission to use them. If a customer story appears, it must be a real one with their permission, not an invented testimonial.
Some platforms ask you to label AI-made images. Check each platform's current rules.
A worked example
Imran runs a bike repair stall in Lahore. Each Monday he asks AI for five short posts: a tip about tires, a before-and-after photo caption, a thank-you, a service reminder and a weekend hours notice. He supplies the real facts and edits each post.
It takes him twenty minutes instead of two hours. His customers hear his voice, and the facts are correct because he checked them.
Practice now
- Write a one-sentence description of your business and customer. Ask AI for five posts and edit your favorite two.
- Make a list of your own phrases and words. Add it to your next prompt as 'my voice'.
Use any AI assistant you have. Do not paste private, client or patient information into it.
Check yourself
1. What should you give AI first for a good post?
2. What must you check before posting?
3. A testimonial in a post should be...
